UPS Field Engineer - Various Locations

Growing independent critical power maintenance provider is actively searching for UPS (uninterrupted power supply) Field Engineers.   We are a service provider for uninterruptible power supplies, generators, batteries, and power support equipment.  We are looking for Field Engineers who enjoy providing first-class technical and customer service in the critical power industry minimizing customer down time and repair expense.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Our Field Engineers are responsible for preventative maintenance, remedial service, emergency repair, and installation of various brands of UPS systems (single and three-phase), battery systems (both wet and sealed cell) and related critical power equipment at customer’s site.  Field Engineer will also provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment. Assignments are moderate to extensively complex in nature, which require judgment, and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. Applicants will perform other related duties processing customer reports, expenses, time and other job related materials. Position includes regional responsibility on a 24x7 on-call basis.  Travel will be required.

Applicant may be required to stand up to 8 hours a day with some walking, bending, and stooping involved. Position requires some heavy lifting and related activities.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires 3-5 years of field experience in UPS, battery technologies or electronics.
  • Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s degree in electronics repair or a related field, a Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • Factory training in the repair and maintenance in one, or several leading UPS brands is highly desired along with field technician or related military experience.
  • Candidates must have the ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, electric and electronic schematics, and policies and procedures.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of single phase and three phase circuit theory and AC/DC circuit theory, sealed and wet cell theory and be proficient in the use of test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. 
  • Intermediate up to advanced level of computer skills required.  This should include Microsoft Office product and email skills.
  • Applicant must provide a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a rental vehicle when traveling.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.




Certified Electrician - San Diego, CA

Summary: Position involves installing electrical components for permanent applications. Position will require performance of or supervision of others in the following tasks: electrical equipment/component installation, load and unload, cleaning, organizing, digging, stocking trucks and other manual labor as assigned.

Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

*Conduit Bending Experience Required

  • Show up to work on time as scheduled, or personally phone supervisor prior to the start of shift
  • Ensure that all equipment is installed in accordance with plans and/or supervisor’s instructions in order to avoid repeat trips
  • Report all work injuries and vehicular accidents to supervisor immediately
  • Drive vehicles in accordance with laws and Power Plus! driving standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge base and skill sets commonly associated with industry standards for Apprentice Electricians including, but not limited to:
    • Correctly read and interpret electrical plans, schematics and blueprints
    • Correctly install common electrical components for permanent applications
    • Supervise/direct the work of others and enforce safety procedures
    • Troubleshoot common electrical problems
    • Demonstrate the ability to adjust installation to on-site conditions in a safe manner, consistent with plans and/or supervisor’s instructions
  • Meet or exceed minimum DoT requirements to drive commercial vehicles, including but not limited to:
    • Possess valid, current, California state driver’s license
    • English proficiency (read, write, speak and understand)
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Maintain vehicle appearance and function – including filling out vehicle inspection checklist accurately on a daily basis
  • Correctly and safely use hand and power tools common to the industry, including but not limited to:
    • Hammers, saws, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and other hand tools common to construction in general and electrical installation in particular
    • Drills, power saws, pneumatic or hydraulic powered tools, and other power tools common to construction in general and electrical installation in particular
    • Drill press, skill saw, band saw, and other shop tools/equipment common to construction in general and electrical installation in particular 
  • Wear OSHA compliant safety equipment – hard hats, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets and use potentially hazardous materials (including but not limited to: paints, solvents, fuels, oil, and other materials common to construction in general and electrical installation in particular) in a safe manner consistent with their labeling.
  • Adhere to Power Plus! safety and quality standards when setting and/or picking up equipment, or when performing any other assigned work.




Security Cameras, CCTV and Low Voltage Wiring Installer - San Diego, CA

Summary: This position will primarily be based from the Camp Pendleton Military base.  Duties consist of CCTV installation and calibration, electrical wiring and testing and other duties as required to completed scheduled daily work.

Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
  • Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by one's self.
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required.
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts.
  • Must be Able to commute up to two hours from home.
  • Must be proficient in all types of camera, electrical installations, and wiring methods.
  • Prepares work area for installation of equipment.
  • Installs or helps install lo-volt components.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
  • Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating).
  • Performs task in a professional manner.
  • Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
  • Secure and lock up equipment after use.
  • Advise immediate supervisor of any safety or job related problems.


Physical Requirements:
Includes climbing ladders and steep stairs, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required; Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. ; Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.




Generator Technician Level 2 - Central Regions

The Level II Generator Service Tech well motivated individual with excellent communication skills who is able to explain maintenance issues to customers as well as facilitate repairs. This qualified individual should have several years experience in the generator industry or like military experience and be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision. A Level II Generator Service Tech will be required to perform service and maintenance on machines ranging from 5kw to 2000kw.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work in shop and field as jobs requires.
  • Perform engine services, load testing, ATS testing and repair, read and decipher electrical and mechanical drawings, troubleshoot diesel and gaseous fuel systems, perform engine repairs, both minor and major, generator end testing and repairs, complete system evaluations and share technical information and life experiences with fellow techs.
  • All technicians will be required to work some irregular hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Participation in after hours on call pager rotation is required.
  • Occasional out of town travel with overnight stay is required.

Qualifications:

  • Tech should be able to demonstrate basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have positive attitude and willingness to help customers to resolve any maintenance issues while representing power plus in a positive manor.
  • Tech should be in good physical condition and show mechanical and electrical aptitude, have some past experience in mechanical and electrical fields.
  • Technical schooling, automotive or transportation fields, commercial, residential electric and or like military experience are preferred.
  • Must have basic hand tools i.e. socket and wrench sets, standard and metric . Basic screw drivers, allen wrenches, pliers and crimpers ect. Tech should understand basic tool functions, including safe and proper operation.
